Are All Copiers The Same? – Commercial Business Machines

All Copiers- AND Copier Manufacturers are the Same at this Point……….. Right??

Having been in this Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax Industry for over 30 Years now, this is something I’ve heard from several Customers. I remember in the ‘90’s, when we at CBM (Commercial Business Machines) represented another Copier Manufacturer OTHER than Kyocera- They were a very well-known Copier Brand and the Copiers they made were quite good for their day. That’s why we here at CBM were an authorized Dealer for them at the time.

When speaking of Copier Companies- Whether referring to the Local Dealer that is responsible for the end-user experience like the Team here at CBM is, OR whether we’re talking about a Copier Manufacturer like Kyocera- The difference between them is NOT found when all is going well……. When everything is working like it’s SUPPOSED to. The distinction is found- when things are NOT going as planned. That’s what happened then, in the late ‘90’s………. and then again last week. This most recent Story is truly AMAZING and demonstrates why Kyocera is indeed different…… And it is NOT about the Features- The “Bells & Whistles” that most of us really do not care very much about. It IS, rather, in how we at CBM, with Kyocera’s support, handled a problem……. Especially, when it IS REEALLY difficult. But first, allow me so share a brief story as to WHY we moved from the other Copier Company to Kyocera in the first place. This happened about 20 years ago now.

In the ‘90’s, we were doing just fine selling Copiers from the other Manufacturer. Obviously there must have been a problem and- Here it is ~ With ANY Product made these days- From a Car, to a Copier, to a TV to a Mobile Phone- At this point- Most Manufacturers of anything involving Technology have achieved a truly amazing level of reliability. Think of where we were just back in the mid-‘80’s when I began- THOSE were the Dark Ages for Copier Technology……… (And I seem to remember more than a few Cars from Detroit that left QUITE a bit to be desired! In those days, I used call the Copiers sold by Commercial Business SUPPLY (the predecessor to Commercial Business MACHINES) – “JAM-O-MATICS”. They were truly horrible!! It wasn’t a “Brand” issue- Rather, it was simply where the Technology was at that time. By the late ‘90’s, however, they’d ALL come a LONG ways. BUT, what about the rare occasion – Even if it’s only once a year- When a Copier DID do something goofy? When it broke an obscure Part, or was proving nearly IMPOSSIBLE to simply diagnose? This is what we dealt with, where, in spite of all of the herculean efforts of our Technical Staff at the time, we felt completely abandoned by the Copier Manufacturer that we represented then. We were absolutely on our own. And, since we didn’t MAKE the darn things- This put us in a VERY tough spot. It was at this time that I pursued and then made the moves to become an Authorized Kyocera Dealer- A decision I’ve never regretted. Our story continues with one of those CRAZY – “Ya’ had to be there” – Examples as to why.

Fast Forward from the ‘90’s to a week ago and- It happened to us again!! UGGHH!! A BRAND New, otherwise SUPER reliable Kyocera Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax, that had been working fantastic- All of a sudden….. It had a problem…… In FACT, it was a BIG problem…… With a VERY obscure Part. But NOW, times are different, because we are NOT working with a Copier Manufacturer that had become “Too Big For Their Britches” – A saying my dear Mother used on me once in a while if she felt I was acting arrogantly. I may have just greatly dated myself here, as I’m betting many of you, those the most likely to read this Blog, won’t have EVER heard that expression of arrogance and indifference- BUT, this is absolutely what we had from the other guys. But NOT now. With Kyocera’s awesome Technical Support, the problem was diagnosed and Robbie ordered the Part through our normal Parts Ordering System, to be shipped Overnight……… ONLY TO FIND that this really WAS an obscure Part, as there were exactly ZERO of them in Kyocera’s NATION WIDE Inventory. The Part was on Indefinite and Nation Wide Back Order. Our Customer was totally DOWN- AND, we had absolutely NO WAY to tell them when we could get them going again. ARRGGHH!!

We Delivered a Loaner to our Customer right away, of course, which got them going with the same functionality. The Customer was then taken care of….. And Happy….. By FAR the most important part. WHEEW! But- Now What?!! We STILL need the darn Part and we can’t exactly weave it out of Straw! Just to add insult to injury, the Part was specific to this one, high-end Model, a Model that we didn’t have in stock at the time. THIS is the part of the Story that separates KYOCERA from the rest and is a PERFECT example of why they have received the following Industry awards~

Back to our Story- We have a Brand New, High-Speed Kyocera Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax recently purchased by an awesome Customer that’s completely down, as in- The Machine is totally inoperable. Robbie has ordered the Part for special overnight delivery……. So, in 24 hours- We should receive the Part so that we can install it and fix their Machine, thereby allowing us to get our Customer back to normal operations, EVEN from an obscure Part failure! All relatively quickly……. Right?! I mean- That’s the way it’s SUPPOSED to work! AHHHH, if only it were that easy!

• When the needed Part, a very specific Circuit Board, was identified through our normal ordering process as being on Indefinite Nation Wide Back Order, we knew THEN that we were in trouble. Robbie immediately contacted JANET in the Kyocera Regional Office in Irvine, Ca., bypassing the Automated Ordering System. Kyocera has a Showroom there, with most all of their current Products on the floor. Once Janet discovered the problem with the Back Order, she got creative to find a solution. She went to the Kyocera Management, gained authorization to pull a working Machine from their own Demo Floor and had the needed Part pulled from that Machine. But- That Part wasn’t in Kyocera’s Inventory- So, they couldn’t even Ship it to us until they found yet another creative solution to bring the Part into their Inventory. Janet found just such a solution- And the Part Shipped to us- Overnight!

Okay, NOW the Problem is Solved!!………. We’ll have our Customer up and running again in a day! Perfect! Wait……. UHHHMMM………. TIME OUT!! As the Famous saying goes- “Houston- We Have a Problem!” Actually, the Problems, (as in more than one!), continued:

• We received a notice from the Freight Company, (I won’t use their name, but their dark brown Trucks are everywhere! :-), saying that they- “Had a Mechanical issue”, so overnight delivery would not happen, but they were shuffling Freight around and would get it here ASAP. ARRGGHH- BUT, the Customer still has our Loaner and remains Happy (We have AMAZING Customers!) So, we waited yet another day.
• The next day, the Board arrived!!! YEAH!! Problem Solved!!………. UHHHMMM………. TIME OUT!! Once AGAIN- “Houston- We (STILL) HAVE a Problem!” Here’s a Picture of the Circuit Board that came out of the Overnight Shipping Box from the dark brown Truck Freight Company.



Have you ever felt as though – You Just Can’t Win?!! That’s the way WE felt!! Even after such HURCULEAN, Record Breaking Efforts, especially on Kyocera’s part- The Darn Board WAS BROKEN in transit and couldn’t be used!! OMFREAKINGGOODNESS!!!

• Back to Janet at Kyocera, to break the bad news. After a brief grieving period by all involved, Janet was back on the task, saying she’d be back with us, yet again. She did call back very quickly to say they’d pulled another Machine from Inventory and had pulled yet another of the correct Circuit Boards for us. They had already entered it into Inventory- AND- Were Shipping it Overnight to us for NO CHARGE – Either for the Freight, OR for the Part!! UNBELIEVABLE!! YEAH –
• The next day, thankfully with no more Mechanical Issues from the dark brown Truck Company, the 2nd new Circuit Board arrived. This is kinda’ funny……. Check out the Packaging-



The 1st Board we received, the broken one, is on the Counter on the far left- The Box from the broken board (with its damage clearly visible) is on the right – AND then the 2nd Board, APPARENTLY packaged by Kyocera THIS time to be dropped directly from the Jet delivering it overnight- Is in the middle. It made us laugh! ESPECIALLY once we opened it and realized we had a perfect, working Board.

It was installed shortly thereafter and we were back in business with a PERFECT Working Machine once again!!

• I contacted the customer to let them know what all was happening and made arrangements to return their Machine to them. They have their Machine back – And, well……. All is right with the World once again. AHHHHHH!!! SOOOO NICE!!

So- All Copiers are the same at this point, right? Well…… Experts can argue about Features and Functions for days, weeks and months, but we have found over the last 30 + years of Serving the awesome Customers in the greater Salem area that most folks are WAY more interested in the Service they receive than in Who’s Machine has the most “Zoom Modes” – Most folks care (passionately) that we can keep them going- Even when it’s difficult- Or, perhaps especially when it’s difficult. Many can do so when it’s easy. Few can do so when it’s tough- Especially THIS tough. It takes an especially Passionate Team.

So, while there are good Copiers out there, to be sure- Here’s a VERY real world example of why WE are with Kyocera- And why we believe them to be ABSOLUTELY the best! We KNOW how they respond when there’s a challenge- Even a significant one. We’ve already discovered this to NOT be the case with another major Manufacturer and- We Are Simply NOT Willing To Take The Risk For Our Customers With Promises From Any One Else! We don’t have promises from Kyocera- We have walked with them through very difficult challenges and have found them to share our passion for the Bottom Line- That “Bottom Line” of Keeping our Customer Happy- THAT Bottom Line. This is how we have the Google Reviews that we do- Each of them hard earned, but all definitely earned nonetheless.

Are all Copiers the same at this point? Not on a Bet! It STILL comes down to the People who serve You by way of them. They either Care, and will do whatever it takes to keep YOU going- Even when it’s very difficult- Or, for some- Only when it’s easy. Who would you rather Partner with?

Robbie and I have been in this Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax Industry for over 34 Years now- The vast majority of our adult lives spent in Service of our amazing Customers.  In this time, we’ve worked with many of the major Manufacturers of those Copiers, Printers Scanners & Faxes that we have all come to see as ubiquitous- They’re everywhere and seemingly- All the same.

For today, please allow us to share a couple of the Industry Awards and Recognitions that Kyocera has received just in the recent past.

The Award from BTA (Business Technology Association) speaks to how Kyocera is viewed as a Vendor by all Dealers and, in fact, how they were the choice as the best Manufacturer, as chosen by the Dealer community.

Now, let’s shift to look specifically at Kyocera’s Color Copiers and to our version of “Consumer Reports”- A company called- Buyers Lab, Inc. (BLI).  Just last year, BLI put out their inaugural Reliability Award for Color  Copier MFP Brand. Here too, Kyocera came out on top.

These are two great examples as to how our partnership with Kyocera has made our Passion to support YOU, our Customer, Possible.  It’s our Partnership that makes it work.  We will have more to share about this, including an amazing story of what happened when things DIDN’T go as planned…… Repeatedly didn’t go as planned, in fact!  WOW!!  It’s an amazing (and even an entertaining 🙂 story- So, please stay tuned to our Blog here.  Below is the full (2 page) BLI report that details why they chose Kyocera as the Most Reliable Color Copier.  A quick preview for you here….. A quote from the Report- “In our lab testing over the past five years, every single one of Kyocera’s color copiers demonstrated excellent reliability, with every device scoring 10 out of 10” As my Father used to say- It’s tough to beat that, even with a Big Stick! Okay- Goofy quote- but, it’s true!  This was so tough to beat, that, well….. It WASN’T beaten. That’s a major reason why Kyocera won! There’s more, too….. Salem Oregon Law Firms Lovin’ New Kyocera Scanning App – Commercial Business Machines

“We’ll go with the Kyocera Ta-6053ci Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax that you’re Proposing, Gregg, BUT, You have to promise that as a part of the Deal you will still send (our CBM Technician) Sean out to check in on us once in a while!”

This is the seemingly odd request made by Jill Tachell, Office Manager of a VERY prominent Keizer Law Firm as they made their final decision on which new Kyocera Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax Machine they would choose from CBM recently. Jill’s Office has been a Customer of ours for most of a Decade, but it had always been with a Mono, (or Black & White), Kyocera Copier/Scanner/Printer/Fax Machine- And, always with a Kyocera Copier that had the most basic of Scanning abilities at that. BUT, what HAD grown over time was a Relationship with their CBM Technician- Sean DuRée……. And they were simply NOT willing to surrender that- No matter HOW good the new Kyocera was! I could tell that Jill was not being funny- NOPE!  She was absolutely dead serious!  It was Sean with the Deal…… Or- There’d be no Deal!  Gulp!  I pondered (very quickly, mind you! :-)how even though we count on a significant reduction in Labor Cost with the installation of each of these new Kyocera Color Copiers, (owing to how stunningly reliable they are), I would be quite happy to make such a concession.  It was actually an amazing compliment!   (Congratulations, SEAN!  Robbie and I are VERY proud of You!)  We are all about Relationships.  Actually, they are what we provide, by way of some stunning technology that does make Office life WAY easier.

Ironically, it’s what’s happened SINCE we’ve installed Jill’s new Kyocera Ta-6053ci Color Copier that has been nothing short of amazing!……. I mean, Jill and her Office have been pretty big Fans of Kyocera (and, obviously of SEAN’S too! :-)for a long time now, but- HOLY SMOKES- The new Kyocera Ta-6053ci Color Copier Technology – (ESPECIALLY with the DMConnect Scanning App I’d worked SO diligently to talk them into) – Had caused Jill and her Staff to actually wish they’d have made the decision to upgrade much sooner!  I’m SOOO glad that I’m NOT one to say- “I told ya’ so, Jill!”  Just a little humor there, Jill…… Okay, VERY little!

In keeping with our Negotiated Agreement, I sent Sean out to check in on how Jill was doing and to make any needed changes to the Custom “Workflows” we had built for them in DMConnect, Kyocera’s AMAZING Scanning Application.  I also stopped in to see how they were doing with their new Copier.  While there, I asked Jill what she thought of their new Kyocera.  She kindly shared several specific things that the new Kyocera Copier did, each of which dramatically improved their day to day operations.  I couldn’t write fast enough, as I made notes of what she was saying.  Here are some of the specific things that Jill Loves about her new Kyocera~

  • Before- Since Jill’s office only had a Mono (black & white) Kyocera, they had to Copy/Print Color photos (such as property damage and injuries) as well as Print Color Documents (such as demand letters) on their small individual workstation Inkjet printers. Printing Color Documents and Photos on an Inkjet was laborious, especially if Photo Paper was used – Taking MINUTES to print each pageCopying Color Photos on an Inkjet with no top feeder was even more laborious- Each one done…. One. At. A. Time. Each one placed under the platen glass….. One. At. A. Time.  Adding insult to injury, these methods also meant frequent replacement (Translation- Purchase!) of expensive Color ink cartridges!  This process took time, was a hassle- And was expensive.  (WOW!!  What a combo! – Slow, a Hassle AND Expensive!  Glad that’s not the claim for OUR Products!  Okay, this part is my commentary 😉
  • Now- Jill and Staff can Print the same Color Documents & Photos- At 55 PPM; At 1200dpi and when the job requires, even using Heavy Photo Paper that is run right out of one of the normal Paper Trays (it is not required to use the Multi-Purpose Tray for Photo Paper).The Kyocera then automatically Collates the Color Prints produced into the remainder of the Document- All automatically.  Copying Color Documents on the new Kyocera (vs. the workstation Inkjets) is also lightning fast by comparison!  This saves Jill and her Staff a considerable amount of time.  NICE!!  (Yep!  That was me again! 🙂
  • Before-Everyone in the Office could Scan to Folders that were on their computer desktops. This was okay- Better than before 10 years ago….. Uhhmm… Maybe 15 years ago.  BUT, it did create its own set of problems too. Jill called it her electronic “File Pile” (this was in addition, of course, to the physical paper file piles), but everything that was Scanned went to a “Scanned Docs Folder”- And each with a goofy numeric file name created by the Copier/Scanner as each Doc was Scanned and sent to the PC.  So, the only way to know what each File actually WAS, would be to Open each Document, (one at a time), re-name it (after rediscovering what it was!), and then cut/move it into each Client’s electronic directory (or Folder).  This was such a tedious process that Scanned Docs would frequently sit in the electronic “File Pile” for quite some time.  (Uhhmm….. If ya’ don’t have immediate access to the Docs you Scan, with them located in the Folder they ultimately belong in AND if they’re not named properly…… Then- What’s the point of Scanning them in the first place?  Okay- I GUESS……IF the Building burned down, as long as there’s off-site storage, (which they do have), there’d be access to these Scanned Docs, in one big Electronic Pile, of sorts- but WOW!  It still seems to miss the main point of the process.  Okay, this is my commentary too.  Jill did NOT say this part!)
  • Now- NOW…… AHHHHH! Life CAN be better!  Enter DMConnect, Kyocera’s AMAZINGLY Powerful Scanning App…… (The one I struggled to talk them into!  DOH!  MORE commentary! 😉  But, after watching a couple of the short Videos that Sean and I had made demonstrating how DMConnect could change the entire way they do Biz with Docs to be Scanned- They said YES!  Here’s a Pic of Jill, standing in front of her brand new Kyocera Ta-6053ci Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/Fax, with its QWERTY Keyboard right there on the Copier.  Don’t they look good together?

    ~ BONUS- MORE “NOW”– Just ONE of DMConnect’s “Workflows” is configured to:

    • Display a list of their Client Folders from which they may choose to store the Docs in that they’ll be Scanning. (BTW- They can drill down to any existing sub-folders.)
    • Allow the Staff to Name the Doc to be Scanned right at the Copier, before Scanning, using a real Keyboard- Not a touch-screen version, but one very much like I’m using at my PC to type this Blog.
    • Remove Blank Pages automatically. This requires Zero Buttons to be pushed to make this happen. NOW, it no longer matters if there are single sided AND two sided Docs in the pile to be Scanned.  DMConnect AUTOMATICALLY removes ALL Blank Pages. This is a HUGE benefit that all who have it LOVE!
    • Convert the Scanned Doc into a Searchable PDF. DMConnect(Powered by Omni Page OCR) will indeed OCR each Scanned Doc and create a Searchable PDF. Simple search ability and therefore, compliance with the requirement of many Courts.
    • Jill’s specific comment about using DMConnect now versus her File Pile method was- “Overall it drastically reduces our time spent on electronic filing.

    (BTW- We’re adding a Video Channel to our Website here very soon where you will be able to see for yourself how the Kyocera App’s will benefit YOUR Office. We’re beginning with DMConnect and PinPoint Scan for now.  In FACT, many of these Videos are already done, but you’ll need the secret “Bat Code” {Dating myself, I KNOW!} to access them.  Please reach out to me if you’d like to check out any of these short Videos and I’ll be happy to share the secret to access them now, until we’re done polishing them & are ready to make them public. 🙂

    • Before- Owing to the nature of the cases handled at their law firm,a copy of the Client’s driver’s license and insurance card are required to be in each Client File. The challenge was always that they would frequently need to Copy the Front AND the Back of these small, but very important Docs- And they wanted to have these Copies of both the Front and the Back to be on only the Front of ONE piece of Paper.  This was a tedious and complicated process to figure out how to accomplish this chore manually, requiring the Copy Paper be run through the Machine manually a 2ndtime- DON’T get it in backwards….. Or upside down…… Or you’d get to start all over again!  DOH!!
    • Now- The new Kyocera has an “ID Card Copying” Feature, which allows Jill and her Staff to very easily Scan the Front of these small ID Cards, turn them over and then Scan the Back of the same Cards. The Copier then will then Print both the Front & Back images onto ONE side of a piece of paper.  What was tedious and complicated is now easy-peasy.  AHHH!!
    • Before- Sometimes the Pictures Clients provide are on their Mobile devices. This would always present a challenge, where they’d normally ask the Client to Text or Email these Pics to a Staff member who’d download them to their PC, then head to an Inkjet Printer, with a large cup of Coffee and an even larger dose of patience.
    • Now- Using a free Kyocera App called “Mobile Print” and the built in Wi-Fi that the new Ta-6053ci has, these same Pics can be Printed directly to the Kyocera by either the Client, or by Maribel. She’s Jill’s Front Desk Manager and is the one who deals with the Client’s Pictures most often.  This simple ability has saved a huge amount of time….. And hassle.
      After chatting with Jill about the above benefits of her new Kyocera, I left to head back to the Office, feeling pleased that once again, we had made a difference in a Customer’s business and at the same time, that we had deepened our Relationship with a truly great Customer. I felt deeply fulfilled.  Then, my Phone began to buzz with the receipt of a Text Message.  Below is a Screen Shot of the exact Text Thread from that evening, after I had left from visiting Jill’s Office that Friday a few weeks ago.  I simply cannot say it any better than Jill did.  Thanks, Jill.

Love our new Multi-Bin Mailbox, because my Print Job doesn’t get mixed up with the Staff’s as I print the Kids “Character Quality Certificates” – Now in Awesome Color; PinPoint’s Scan to Email, so I can easily send an Accident Report to a Parent before the Child even gets Home; How Easy it is to Name our Forms at the Copier that we Store in the Machine’s Custom Box for instant Retrieval & Print on Demand; and How Sean, our Technician from CBM was able to “Remote” into my Kyocera Ta-5052ci using Kyocera’s “RemotePanel” to Set-Up a Shortcut for Copying Colored Originals Perfectly Every Time ~ Marilyn Powell- Office Manager, Albany Christian School

It was just last week when I stopped in to Albany Christian School (ACS) to drop off some Toner for Marilyn when she shared these specific things with me.  Although they are one of our most long-standing Customers, their recently installed Kyocera Ta-5052ci- A 50PPM Color Copier/Printer/Scanner/(AWESOME Machine) is ACS’s & Marilyn’s first Color Machine.  They’ve always had B & W (or Monochrome) Machines before and for the last decade or so, they had added a standalone Kyocera Color Printer.  We can’t remember how many Mono Copiers they’ve had from us over the last 20 plus years, as our records no longer go back that far, but they’ve had LOTS of them from us!  So when Marilyn began sharing her thoughts with me as to the things that the Color Ta-5052ci has specifically made easier for her- Well, I started making notes as fast as I could write!  One of the things they wrestled with as they were deciding, was whether to add the Multi-Bin MailBox to their Stapling/Hole Punching Finisher- They did opt to add it, but they were kinda’ nervous to do so and felt it was a bit of a risk.  They just weren’t sure they’d USE it!  NOW, it was the 1stthing Marilyn spoke of in appreciation.  Here’s what Marilyn shared with me about the MailBox- And about a few other things regarding her new Kyocera Color Copier too:

  • “I Print Character Quality Certificatesfor our Kids, now in awesome Color! But, it takes me throughout the day to complete this project, so, I just send each one to my specific MailBox as I complete it. That way, when the Staff comes to use the Machine throughout the day, whether for Copying or Printing, their Jobs come out without getting all mixed up with mine!  It’s great! My Certificates are waiting for me in my MailBox and the Staff gets what they want too!”
  • “When a child falls on the playground, it’s important that we contact the Parents quickly with a Report. We have an Accident Report& now, using PinPoint’s Scan to Email, I can so easily send the Accident Reportto the Parent and know that they’ll have it long before their Child even gets Home! It’s great, because it’s SO Easy- and SO Fast!”
  • “This Copier (Ta-5052ci) has a real Keyboard right at the Machine!” (It also has a big Hard Drive, allowing Marilyn to Scan & Store commonly used Documents) “So, we are able to Scan & Store all of our commonly used Documents, naming them as we go, using the Keyboard to easily name them- For Example, in our Assessment Folder, we have an ‘Assessment for Grades 1-8’ & an ‘Assessment for Kindergarten’.  Then, in the Library Folder, we have a ‘Lost Book Form’ & a ‘Late Book Form’.  These and more will make it easier for Barbara (Marilyn’s replacement) to produce these for the Staff & Parents as needed, (aka- on Demand) without having to go to the PC and look for them.  They’re all stored right on the Copier in one easy to find place- Called the ‘Custom Box’ ”
  • “We have Color Documents that our Staff use. But, when they would Copy them, they were dark enough that the Copies would come out with a hazy background. I knew there was a way to program the Machine to deal with these, but what was amazing was that we didn’t even have to wait for Sean (ACS’s Technician from CBM) to come in and make the programming change.  He was able to Remote into our Ta-5052ci using something called ‘Remote Panel ’.  We did have to authorize his access to our Machine, but once we did, he made a Shortcut Key for us in minutes and it was DONE!  SO Easy!  I also appreciate being able to Email Sean and have him be able to fix the problem remotely!!  That also is huge!!!  I just appreciate all of you at CBM!!”

Marilyn PowellRobbie had received a report from Kyocera’s Fleet Services, the Remote Monitoring Utility Program, saying that Marilyn’s Machine was getting low on Black Toner, so I had volunteered to drop it off.  Unlike over the last 20+ years, before Fleet Services, when Marilyn needed Toner- She didn’t need to keep track of it and then call us to order it….. In FACT, when I arrived with her Toner, she told me that she didn’t even know she was running low!  I was amazed, but pleased that our Fleet ServicesProgram was working as designed!  WE remained focused on Marilyn’s Machine and its needs- SHE remained focuses on what matters to her- The 175 Kids at Albany Christian School- Just as it should be.

Marilyn has been a treasure of ACS for the past 24 years.  She’s now seen kids who themselves have gone through the School now grow up- And now have kids of their OWN that attend the School.  I’m not sure this had anything to do with her decision, but either way, sadly next year the Kids who attend ACS will not have the privilege of being Loved on by Marilyn each day as they see her in the Office.  Sadly, she’s retiring at the end of this School Year.

The Kids and Staff are not the only ones who will feel the loss, as we all at CBM are heartsick, as Relationships are what we “Sell” here at CBM- by way of some incredible Kyocera Copiers/Printers & Scanners- But, candidly, everyone knows that they can get a Copier from almost anywhere.  What they CANNOT get anywhere else- is the deep Relationships that are simply “Who We Are”- And not “what we do” here at CBM.   To the extent that our Customers want to have a Relationship/Friendship with all of us here at CBM- It simply is a “Part of the Deal” that comes with their Copier/Printer/Scanner.  That’s what allows for them to Text, Call, Email or FB Messenger us even after hours for help.  They don’t abuse the privilege (part of the same Relationship deal 🙂 and because we REALLY DO care that their needs are met- Whenever they occur- We look forward to the chance to respond.  These opportunities are rare, but they do provide us a chance to distinguish ourselves from our Corporate Cookie Cutter Competitors.  (CCCC’s)  They may be well meaning folks, but in most big organizations the FIRST thing to go out the window- Are Relationships.

We will SOOO miss Marilyn next year, but we wanted to wish her well in her retirement and also to thank her for all the years we’ve had the privilege of being her Copier Vendor- And her Friends. We’ll do our best to take care of her replacement- Barbara- with the same level of Service that you came to expect, Marilyn.  We want to make you proud that you so consistently steered ACS our way.  GOSH, We will miss you!!  We have sad hearts, but we are SO proud to be able to say that you are our Friend-
